w00t! I have finally completed it! This was something I started in one of the last months of school... and I kind of just... abandoned it...
EDIT: I fixed the coloring so that it looks more like it's true form! I'm much happier about it than I was with the previous submission. (And I realize that it slightly resembles "My Subconscious Mind"... I didn't really mean for that to happen. I just always have this vision in my head of a face half-gone. )
The idea behind this is that it doesn't matter how beautiful you are- it won't last forever... but it could also say that death is natural and necessary. When you come to terms with that, you have an inner peace- which is a very beautiful thing! I would like to know if you have any other takes on it!
~n1kkeisat0:"I was thinking something like it doesn't matter how beautiful you are, because we're all the same on the inside [person's exterior to the skeleton], but then there's hope through the colors and the butterfly." ~SirKuddles:"Do you think maybe it represents you in a way? I can't claim to know you very well, but you always seem so happy and pleasant, yet you also seem to have a very dark imagination... The girl slightly resembles you physically, and I can't help but think the skeleton and butterflies/colors symbolize your inner self.
"Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a a gentle and quit spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight." (1 Peter 3:3-4)
I just read that verse, and couldn't help but to think of this picture."" ~theEyeoftheMind71:"I think it just goes to show that we can only be certain of two things in life. Death, and the inevitability that time will pass.
I'd say more, but it'd make my brain hurt." ~HappyArtist84:"I thought death is a beautiful thing"
I used: colored pencils, watercolor paints, a looooooot of chalk pastels, a little bit of marker and wax crayon.
Wow!!
I first clicked on this rather subconsciously and I didn't look at it for a couple minutes later, and I was just studying it and then all of a sudden saw it was by you, whom I watch, and I was like OMIGOSH!! I thought it was something I had pulled up off of the front page!! xD
Bravo.
The combinations of macabre with fantastic [skeleton->butterfly] is amazing. The girl is rightly the first thing you focus on and your eyes follow the swirls of color straight over to the other side of the picture. So great sense of motion!
I like the meanings that you've given behind it. I was thinking something like it doesn't matter how beautiful you are, because we're all the same on the inside [person's exterior to the skeleton], but then there's hope through the colors and the butterfly.
